Miami Dade Sweeps Titans In Softball

BCC Now 26-23 Overall

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard Community College’s softball team lost a chance to slide into second place in the Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference on Thursday, dropping a doubleheader at Miami Dade College.

The 5-3 and 8-0 losses dropped BCC’s conference record to 5-5 with six games remaining. Miami Dade improved to 7-2 to strengthen its hold on second place behind first-place Indian River State.

BCC is 26-23 overall while Miami Dade is 21-10.

Shannen Marchu was the losing pitcher in Thursday’s first game.

Brooke Formby, who pitched a one-hitter in Saturday’s 10-0 second game victory at Palm Beach, was the loser in the second game.

“We had no luck today,” BCC assistant coach Bob Yanczewski said. “We ran into a tough pitcher in the second game.”

Then Titans have a much-needed break and then play its final three doubleheaders while seeking to finish in the top three in the conference and qualify for its ninth state tournament appearance in the last 10 years.

BCC hosts Broward College at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday, April 6 on the Palm Bay Campus, travels to play nationally No. 1-ranked Indian River State at 2 and 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, and wraps up the regular season by hosting Palm Beach State at 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 13.
