BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Kimberly McMillan always thought that Downtown Melbourne was missing an affordable boutique – so she did something about it with encouragement from her sister Charlene.

When Kimberly saw a ‘For Lease’ sign in the 909 Arcade Building last October, she jumped on the opportunity to act on her ‘Passion of Fashion,’ and within one month of discovering the vacant storefront the Pink Zebra was born.

The Pink Zebra, which is a name Kimberly came up with because of a zebra print she owns, deals mostly in new and vintage women’s clothes and accessories, jewelry, home décor and artwork.

Handpicked Items

“As a boutique with something for everyone, the Pink Zebra features handpicked items from Miami and Tampa, and also vintage type Diva wear – size 0 to plus sizes, accessories, shoes, belts, tops and much more,” said Kimberly. “If you ‘Like’ the Pink Zebra facebook page you will receive 10 percent off.”

The Pink Zebra also works a consignment basis as well and then donates half of the proceeds back to a charitable organization.

“I only buy one piece when shopping for a new item,” said Kimberly. “That way I can keep the feel of a boutique and still offer reasonable prices. At the Pink Zebra you will find 50 percent new clothing and 50 percent vintage.”

Veteran Marketer and Event Producer

Kimberly is a veteran marketer and event producer with a long history of doing business on the Space Coast.

“I’ve been working in the marketing field since 1995, most recently for Dr. Frank Filiberto, who has a practice in Palm Bay,” said Kimberly.

Her education is also in business, graduating from Rollins College with a business degree. She has also worked in marketing and event promotion with Sunbrushed and the city of Palm Bay.

“Customers have come in from all over Florida commenting that this was one of the best stores they have ever been in,” said Kimberly. “The inventory changes about ever two weeks keeping the anticipation of her clients to keep coming back.”

The Pink Zebra is open seven day a week: Mon. – Fri. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Sat 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., and Sun. 12 noon – 4 p.m.
