The project extends from Malabar Road to Palm Bay Road in Palm Bay, a distance of about 2 ½ miles.

The FDOT will host a public information meeting and open house from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 19 at the Palm Bay Community Center at 1502 Malabar Road NE in Palm Bay to present the design plans to the public and obtain feedback from the community.

Maps, drawings and other study information will be displayed at the meeting.

Representatives from the design team will also be on hand at the meeting to discuss the plans and answer questions.

It is expected that the four-lane highway will be widened to six lanes and includes such improvements as bicycle lanes and sidewalks.

Design plans also call for a northbound bridge replacement and a southbound bridge widening over the Melbourne-Tillman Canal.

Over the next several months, project activities will involve the development of the roadway and bridge improvement alternatives.

Following completion of the re-design of Babcock Street, the project will move into the construction phase.
