Lt. Richard Cordeau of the West Melbourne Police Department said that about 11 a.m. Thursday, a woman called 9-1-1 reporting that she feared for her life because her boyfriend was currently armed with a rifle and was threatening to kill her.

The incident was at 7615 Industrial Road in West Melbourne where both parties work.

Cordeau said while the woman spoke with a 9-1-1 operator, Christopher Parker of Melbourne Beach, 41, held a rifle in one hand as he attempted to take the telephone away from the victim with his other hand.

According to Cordeau, Parker told the victim he was going to kill her, as he searched the office for the clip to the rifle.

During the incident, the woman, who is seven-months pregnant, received a cut on her arm as she tried to maintain control of the telephone.

Parker was subsequently arrested by the West Melbourne Police officers without incident and the rifle and ammunition were recovered by police.

Cordeau said the pregnant woman suffered minor injuries.

Parker was charged with aggravated battery, domestic violence on a pregnant woman, aggravated assault with a firearm and tampering with or harassing a victim and taken to the Brevard County Jail.
