Florida Tech Rowers Seek Victory In Tennessee

Men's & Women's Teams Vying For Titles
OAK RIDGE, TENNESSEE – Florida Tech will race at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships starting Saturday and continuing through Sunday at the Melton Lake Rowing Venue.

Racing begins Saturday morning with heats. Semifinals and nine finals races are scheduled for Saturday afternoon and evening.
The remaining finals are slated for Sunday.
The Panthers’ men’s novice eight will be the first boat from FIT to race at 9:54 a.m. They will take on Murray State, Ohio University, UC San Diego and Purdue.
Then, the men’s novice four will compete against Texas, Clemson, Texas A&M, James Madison and Georgia at 11:29 a.m.
The women’s varsity eight received the No. 7 seed in its event and will oppose Miami of Ohio, Tulane, George Washington, Oklahoma City and Colorado at 12:17 p.m. The Panthers were schedule to race in the women’s novice four, but the boat was scratched due to an injury.
The 19th-ranked men’s varsity eight, which has won the SIRA Championship in three of the last four years, was awarded the top seed in the event. It will first race at 12:40 p.m. versus Colorado, Oklahoma City, UC San Diego and Clemson.
After the conclusion of the heats, the opening semifinal race is set to begin at 2:12 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday’s racing is scheduled to start at 8 a.m.
