Matenaer Joins Health First Medical Group As CFO

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Thomas M. Matenaer, CPA, has been named Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Health First Medical Group, Brevard County’s largest multi-specialty physician group.

The creation of the Health First Medical Group comes following the successful acquisition of certain assets of Melbourne Internal Medicine Associates (MIMA) in February. The medical group is a combination of Health First’s existing Health First Physicians and MIMA physicians, and now includes 246 physicians and over 1040 associates.

In his role as CFO, Matenaer will be responsible for the overall financial operation and strategic financial planning for Health First Medical Group.

Matenaer has more than 30 years of experience in finance within the healthcare field. He most recently served as Chief Financial Officer for St. Joseph’s Medical Group (Dignity Health) in Phoenix, Arizona where he was responsible for directing and coordinating the financial reporting, payer contracting and business office for the 180+ provider medical group affiliated with a large integrated health system.

Prior to that, he served as senior vice president of The Advisory Board (Pivot Health) in Nashville, Tennessee, VP of Finance with Allina Hospitals and Clinic in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Chief Financial Officer for Aspen Medical Group in St. Paul Minnesota.

Matenaer received his bachelor’s degree in business administration (BBA) in Accounting and his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in Management from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Matenaer is a CPA and is married with three children.
