New Youth Basketball League Starting In West Melbourne

BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Brevard County Parks and Recreation is launching a new youth basketball league starting in May at the Rodes Park Community Center.

Registration for the league will be held at the center at 3410 Flanagan Avenue in West Melbourne from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 18 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 20.

Participants must be present with their parent or adult guardian at registration for a skills evaluation and should wear appropriate attire.

The league fee is $50 per child and includes a uniform shirt and an eight to 10-game season.

The age divisions for the youth league are 5 to 6, 7 to 8, 9 to 10, 11 to 12 and 13 to 15.

Children must be at least 5 and under 16 by May 1 to be eligible to participate.

Practices will begin on Tuesday, April 30, and will be held on weekday evenings and Saturdays during the day.

The practice days will be determined by the coaches.

Games will begin on May 16 and will be played on Saturdays for age divisions 5–12  and Thursday evenings for age division 13 to 15.

Based upon registrations, game days may change. Volunteer coaches are needed along with team sponsors.

All activities are conducted and supervised by Brevard County Parks and Recreation staff at the Rodes Park Community Center.
