Palm Bay Public Information Officer Yvonne Martinez said that an armed man gave up late Sunday morning after holding two children inside the home.

Martinez said that at 4:35 a.m. a neighbor called 9-1-1 to report seeing the man pointing a rifle outside his window.

The neighbor reported hearing gunshots.

The residence is located in the 1700 block of Joshua Drive in Palm Bay.

Martinez said crisis negotiators were able to contact the individual by cell phone and he gave up without a struggle.

The neighbors immediately surrounding the location had been advised to stay inside during the standoff.

The children were not harmed during the incident.
