Panthers Fall In Softball Doubleheader At Home

Florida Tech Now 25-21 Overall

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech was overcome by Barry in a doubleheader, 10-0 in five innings and 11-0 in six innings, Saturday afternoon at Nancy Bottge Field.

With one game left, the Panthers are 25-21 overall and 12-11 in the Sunshine State Conference, while the Buccaneers are now 28-16, 15-5 SSC.

Alexis Yohe was the story in game one of the doubleheader, throwing a five-inning perfect game. She faced the minimum number of batters and struck out seven for her 15th win of the season. Her team gave her a five-run lead heading into the fifth before breaking out with five runs on five hits and taking advantage of three Panther errors.

Buccaneer hurler Britney Pugh (6-5) followed Yohe’s outing with a six inning three-hitter in game two.

Barry’s offense totaled 28 hits on the day. Kayla Monroy was 4-for-5 with a pair of home runs, six RBIs and four runs scored.

The Panthers hosted their second Strike Out Cancer Day on Saturday. The team wore black Strikeout Cancer shirts with pink belts and socks, and sold extra shirts with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society.

FIT will conclude its season against Barry on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Nancy Bottge Field.

Before first pitch, the Panthers will recognize seniors Kara Dickinson, Lindsy Dugan, Kyla Palaschak and Erica Tollett as part of Senior Day.
