Running Zone Hosts Boston Tribute Run Tonight

ABOVE VIDEO: Since its inception in 2003, the Running Zone athletic footwear and retail store in Melbourne has delivered on its promise to lead the way in community involvement and to make a significant impact on the health of area residents. Recognized by many as the go-to couple on the Space Coast for help with charitable causes, Running Zone owners Don and Denise Piercy were honored with selection as 2012 Central Florida Humanitarians of the Year.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – To show support for those affected by the Boston Marathon bombing, the Running Zone will host a tribute run starting at 6:30 from their Melbourne store.

There will be no cost to runners to participate.
“Running stores across America will be hosting this simultaneous run to bring the community of runners together and show support for those affected in Boston on Monday, April 15th,” said the Running Zone’s Don Piercy via their event facebook page.
“We are excited that Cumulus Broadcasting will be joining Running Zone Foundation in support of the run staring at RZ. Bring your friends and family and join us to honor runners worldwide affected by the events in Boston.”
For the run, which will begin at the Running Zone located at 3696 N. Wickham Road in Melbourne, participants are encouraged to wear past or present Boston Marathon gear – or the iconic blue and yellow colors from the marathon.
Running Zone will not be taking donations but will have information on donation opportunities such as the following: Boston Mayor Menino and Massachusetts Governor Patrick have announced the formation of The One Fund Boston, the purpose of which is to raise money to help those families most affected by the tragic events.

Runners were encouraged to donate to The One Fund Boston, Inc. which was set up by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino, who have announced the formation of fund help the people most affected by the tragic events that occurred in Boston on April 15, 2013.
