BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – A bank robbery suspect lost his gun during a hold-up Wednesday afternoon in  Melbourne.

Melbourne Police officials say a man walked into the Florida Business Bank at 340 N. Harbor City Boulevard about 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, pulled a gun and demanded cash from a teller.

The teller complied, but when the suspect placed the gun on the counter to stuff cash into a bag,  the teller alert grabbed the weapon and put it safely out of ther suspect’;s reach.

The suspect, described as being a white man in his late 40s, ran from the bank leaving the gun behind.

He was last seen riding a bicycle north on Harbor City Boulevard, according to police.

The gun was recovered by police officers.
