Special Event On Sunday, May 12

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – If you think giving birth to a 9-pound baby is tough, try giving birth to a 159-pound one that is more than 6-feet tall.

This was the case for Johari, a Masai giraffe at Brevard Zoo, when she gave birth to a male Masai giraffe on Feb. 6.

Because all moms are super and deserve special recognition, the Brevard Zoo will honor of Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 12 by offering free admission to moms.

Venture into Expedition Africa to see the baby Masai giraffe calves then head over to La Selva and welcome the male jaguar cub, a baby Baird’s Tapir and three capybara pups.

Next, visit the free-flight aviary in Australasia where you can see the new Radjah Shelducks. The newest additions to the Brevard Zoo family were welcomed in the early months of 2013.

What other fun activities can you do at the Zoo this Mother’s Day?

Splash around with your children in the Paws on Play area, solve the monthly mystery at the Wildlife Detective Training Academy, kayak along the Nyami Nyami River, feed the giraffes at the Expedition Africa platform, take a train ride and so much more. The possibilities are endless.
