Palm Bay Police Arrest Three Burglary Suspects

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Officers with the Palm Bay Police Department Special Operations Division, along with the Special Investigations Unit and SWAT personnel, arrested three suspects and recovered thousands of dollars in stolen property, including almost 30 firearms, following a weeklong investigation into a series of residential burglaries throughout the city.

According to the Palm Bay Police Department, Jason Bennett, 25, and Aaron Goodwin, 19, face charges of burglary, and theft and could face additional charges as the investigation continues.

They are currently being held on $30,000 bond each. A third suspect, identified as Frederick Clemons, 23, is in custody for drug related charges and is being held without bond.

RANDOM RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES

Over the course of the last month a series of residential burglaries were reported throughout the city. The suspects chose random targets after casing neighborhoods and waiting for opportunities where residents were not home.

The suspects forced their way into the homes and stole computers, gaming systems, jewelry, cash, prescription drugs, TV’s, firearms, knives, credit cards and other property.

Citizens provided information about a suspicious vehicle and further investigation yielded the identities of potential suspects. The investigation also revealed the suspects were taking the stolen property to a local storage facility. Late Friday evening the primary suspects were located and arrested.

A search warrant for the storage unit was executed and officers located and recovered the stolen property.

“We will likely clear more than a dozen residential burglaries as a result of these arrests,” said Sgt. Ron Lugo of the Palm Bay Police Depatment.

ONGOING INVESTIGATION

Detectives are continuing to investigate and are working with the victims in order to identify and return the stolen property to the rightful owners.

“The citizens played a key role in helping us solve these crimes,”said Sgt. Lance Fisher.

“They gave us good information about a suspicious vehicle that our detectives were able to use to develop suspects and ultimately stop the crime spree.
