Robert Hannel Killed In Motorcycle Accident

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Robert H. Hannel, 76, was killed last Saturday around 11:59 p.m. in a motorcycle crash at Nasa Boulevard and Commerce Dr. in Melbourne, according to the Melbourne Police Department.

Hannel sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger on the 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle was transported to an area hospital in serious but stable condition. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening, according to the Melbourne Police Department.

Neither Hannel or the passenger were wearing helmets.

According to the Melbourne Police Department, it appears the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Nasa Boulevard when it left struck the raised concrete divider in the center of the roadway. As the motorcycle came back onto the roadway, both Hannel and his passenger were ejected.

The reason why the motorcycle left the roadway is currently unknown. The Melbourne Police Department is currently investigating this incident and more information may be available at a later time.
