SUV Slams Into Cocoa Waffle House, Flees From Scene

PATRONS SUFFER MINOR INJURIES
BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Four patrons were injured early this morning when a SUV slammed into the side of Waffle House at 4465 King St. in Cocoa, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The silver/tan SUV was parked facing west in the parking lot of the Waffle House, and for an unknown reason, the driver accelerated, jumping the parking curb. The vehicle struck the the Waffle House where patrons were sitting inside, then backed up and fled the scene.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, among the people inside the building injured were: Tionta Johnson, 24, of Rockledge; Darrell Johnson, 19, of Cocoa; Curissa Watkins, 21 of Titusville; and Curtis Watkins, 48, of Titusville.
The vehicle is described as a silver/tan small SUV, and the driver was described as a possible black male wearing a white shirt with red stripes, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The SUV should have front end damage.
STILL OPEN FOR BUSINESS
The Waffle House structure was not declared unsafe by the Brevard County Building Inspector, but he advised to use caution, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
This crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
