Verena TenEyck, 80, Passes Away At Childs Hospice House

BREVARD COUNTY • INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH, FLORIDA — Verena E. TenEyck, 80, of Indian Harbor Beach, Florida, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the William Childs Hospice House surrounded by her family.  

Born in Glens Falls NY, she was the daughter of late Betheul and Minnie Vaughn and wife to Ronald S. TenEyck for 59 years. Verena earned her associates degree in dietetics from SUNY Cobleskill in 1954.  After graduation she accepted a job at St Mary’s Hospital where she initiated the “Patients Choice a Meal Plan.” After working for two years she decided raising her family at home was more important.  She raised “four good boys” in Averill Park NY. Facing the empty nest syndrome, she went back to work for EDS in 1987 where she became a manager in document control.

Verena enjoyed the beach, pool, sun, her husband and her boys – and was proud to retire in the sunshine state where she finally passed.

Survivors, in addition to her husband included her children, include Mark (Maureen) TenEyck of Averill Park, NY; Michael (Susan) TenEyck of West Sand Lake, NY; Mitchell (Mariam) TenEyck of West Chester, PA; and Matthew TenEyck (Kristina) of Hollis, ME along with her brother Raymond Vaughn who currently resides in Northern California.  She also has contributed to creating eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Saint Sebastians’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, 2010 Oak Street, Melbourne Beach, Florida on June 29  at 10 a.m. Interment in October at Memory Gardens in Albany, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Verena E. TenEyck may be made to the William Childs Hospice House, 81 Medplex Parkway, Palm Bay, Florida 32907, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, at PO Box 90611, Washington, DC 20090.
