Bochy, Rosseau Inducted Into FCSAA Hall of Fame

ABOVE VIDEO:  Longtime Brevard Community College Baseball coach Ernie Rosseau was inducted into the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2013.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Two legends of Brevard County baseball have been selected for induction into the Florida College System Activities Association Hall of Fame.

Ernie Rosseau, who played and coached at Brevard Community College , the college became Eastern Florida State College on July 1, will be inducted along with 1975 BCC All-American catcher Bruce Bochy. Bochy has won two World Series titles in the last three seasons as manager of Major League Baseball’s San Francisco Giants.

Eastern Florida’s baseball field, where Rosseau plied his trade for 29 seasons before stepping down in the spring of 2012, is named in Bochy’s honor.

Rosseau’s BCC Titans teams won two state titles and he retired with a won-loss record of 735-517.

He sent numerous players to four-year universities and professional baseball, including Justin Hoyman, Freddie Thon, Craig Hurba, Brendan Winn and Carlos Reyes.

THE FCSAA INTRODUCTION CEREMONY

Rosseau played in the St. Louis Cardinals system and coached minor league baseball with the New York Mets and Chicago White Sox.

Bochy played nine years in the big leagues and is in his 13th year as a manager. He was the 1996 Manager of the Year and has also three National League championships to his credit.

“This has to be one of the highlights of my coaching career,” Rosseau said.

The FCSAA induction ceremony will be held Nov. 15 at the Caribe Royale resort in Orlando.

Rosseau and Bochy will receive plaques with duplicate plaques being placed in the FCSAA State Office Building in Tallahassee.
