FIT Women’s Swimming Earns Third Academic Award

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Florida Tech women’s swimming team has earned the College Swimming Coaches Association of America’s Team Scholar All-America Award.

This is the third time in the past two years the Panther women have been awarded this honor.

“I’m proud of the women’s team for once again earning this award,” head coach Jeni Ritter said. “They continue to excel in the classroom. I look for that to carry on as we continue to grow as a program.”

The Panthers recorded a cumulative team GPA of 3.30 in the spring semester to clearly surpass the 3.0 requirement to receive the award.

AWARD PRESENTED TWICE ANNUALLY

Florida Tech was one of 52 institutions to be honored by the CSCAA. The Panthers were joined on the list by fellow Sunshine State Conference schools Florida Southern, Nova Southeastern, Rollins, Saint Leo and Tampa.

The award is presented to collegiate swimming and diving teams twice annually, in the fall semester and in the term coinciding with the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. The women’s swim team has previously received the award for the fall 2011 semester and the 2012 spring semester.

INDIVIDUAL ACADEMIC HONORS

Nine members of the women’s swimming team also garnered individual academic honors this past season. Camille Bobiak, Madison Hart, Kristen Jones, Daphne Laino, Raschelli Linz,Shelby Pearce, Jenna Philipp, Madie Poon and Liana Soileau were named to the SSC Commissioner’s Spring Honor Roll for achieving a GPA of 3.20 or above on a 4.0 scale.
