Sheriff’s Deputies Take Shooting Suspect Into Custody

BREVARD COUNTY • CANAVERAL GROVES, FLORIDA – About 12 noon today, Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputies were in pursuit of a shooting suspect in the vicinity of Ash Dr. in the area of Sharpes/Canaveral Groves, and as of 1 p.m., Deputies have now taken the suspect into custody nearby to the shooting.
According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, there are two gunshot victims, whose conditions are currently unknown.
There was a Trauma Alert issued, and one of the victims was air-lifted to the hospital.

Statement from BCSO Lieutenant Mike Scully:
“Early this afternoon, Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a shooting in the 6900 block of Ash Drive, Sharpes. Upon arrival, deputies were told that two (2) people had been shot and that the shooter had fled the scene on foot. The two (2) victims were located and transported with what appears to be non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
Deputies quickly established a perimeter and located the lone suspect, who is currently in custody. The investigation has determined that this was not arandom incident and is alleged to have been drug related.
The investigation is on-going and further information will be released as theinvestigation progresses.
