BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA,FLORIDA – Soccer players Jess Fassnidge and Manuel Goldberg are the Eastern Florida State College Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sept. 8.

Eastern Florida went on to win 4-1 on its home field.
Fassnidge also played a key role in her primary position.
“Jess was all over the field, she was commanding our back four,” Eastern Florida head coach Jeff Carr said.
“She was part of a total team effort.”
Goldberg, a freshman midfielder from Buenos Aires, Argentina and Instituto River Plate, scored the winning goal in the 80th minute in Eastern Florida’s 4-3 upset of nationally second-ranked Darton State in Albany, GA, on Friday. He also recorded an assist in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Middle Georgia.
“He got a volley and put it into the top corner from 30 yards out,” Eastern Florida men’s head coach Oliver Twelvetrees said of Goldberg’s winning goal.
” It was a great strike. Manuel also was a leader and had a solid all-around performance in both games.”
The women’s soccer team hopes to return to the national NJCAA Division 1 tournament, where it finished second last year. This is the inaugural season for the college’s men’s team.
