Three Patients Airlifted After Major Accident On Beachline

THREE HELICOPTERS NEEDED FOR RESCUE
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Three people were airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center after a box truck collided with a car on SR 528 Eastbound around 4 a.m., Saturday morning.
According to Brevard County Fire Rescue, four passengers were trapped in the car, three with serious injuries.
Three helicopters were used for the rescue and three of the four passengers were airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Kyle William Grundy, 24, of Palm Bay was traveling east on SR 528, in the outside lane, as Jaichand Somaiah, 54, of Winter Garden was driving a box truck traveling east on SR 528, in the outside lane, directly in front of Grundy.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Grundy was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to slow his 2009 Honda Accord in time and struck the rear of the box truck.
The Honda became lodged underneath the truck and was dragged to a final rest. Three occupants of the Honda were airlifted to the hospital.
Passengers in Grundy’s car included Stephen Antwoine Wright, 22, of Palm Bay; Alex Michael Souza, 21, of Palm Bay; and Krystle Munoz, 20, of Merritt Island.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Wright, Souza and Grundy were airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Munoz was taken to Wuesthoff Hospital with minor injuries
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the accident and eastbound traffic is being diverted to U.S. 1.
