5-Year Old Pedestrian Struck By Truck Near Sharpes

First Flight transports victim to the hospital

FHP-180-2BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Authorities reported that a 5-year old child was struck by a pick up truck at about 7:30 p.m. this evening in the vicinity of 4885 US 1, near Sharpes.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, Tim Erri of Cocoa was travelling northbound on the outside lane when he struck Louis Villegas, a special needs 5-year old male from Cocoa.

Villegas’ parents were searching for him when he wandered into the northbound lanes of US 1. Erri  swerved to the left but the side of his vehicle struck Villegas.

Villegas was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital in Orange County and is in critical condition.
