BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – With the theme of “Turning the Tide Against Cancer,” the Space Coast Cancer Foundation’s 7th Annual Daffodil Gala to benefit Brevard County cancer patients in need of financial support was a tremendous success.

Held at the Holiday Inn Viera, the elegant Gala sponsored by VItas Innovative Hospice Care was attended by over 300 generous guests from all walks of life. Many of the guests were all dressed in Pacific-themed clothing and the silent auction, dancing and delicious food was enjoyed by all in attendance.
“It is wonderful to see all our friends from the community who support area cancer patients,” said Dr. Rich Levine, the Space Coast Cancer Foundation founder and chairman.
“We would like to thank all the sponsors who gave so generously and the very giving people that attended.”
SURVIVOR, VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR
Among the highlights of the evening were the announcement of the Cancer Survivor of the Year and Volunteers of the Year.

In accepting her Survivor of the Year honor, Donna Skattum thanked the dedicated staff and doctors at Space Coast Cancer Center – and her husband John for his unwavering support through her treatments and challenges.
Donna was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2011, and through the efforts of Dr. Mark Pesa and Dr. Juan Castro, and the care of the nurses at Space Coast Cancer Center, she counts herself as on of the lucky ones. “Every day is a gift,” she said.
The Volunteers of the Year were the mother-son team of Stephanie and Nicholas Seibert. Stephanie is a registered nurse and a patient of Dr. Levine.
Nicolas is a 16-year-old that is dual enrolled at Eastern Florida State College and said he became interested in volunteering when he saw how well Space Coast Cancer Center took care of his mom.

Other sponsors included Artemis, Myriad, Suntrust, Hospice of St. Francis, Infinite Imaging, Jon’s Fine Jewelry, Grace Vista, Beach Organics, Furgeson Insurance, McGladrey, Health First, Senior Home Care, Moffitt Cancer Center, JW Edens, The Viera Company, Radient Health, Space Coast Medicine & Active Living, SpaceCoastDaily.com, Brevard Business News, Florida Today, SCB Marketing and Royal Oaks Medical Group.

“This has been a fantastic and fun evening – with proceeds benefiting local cancer patients in need,” said Dawn Faust, spokesperson for the Space Coast Cancer Foundation.
“The SCCF provides financial assistance, as well as other aid, to individuals battling cancer, and the foundation also strives to promote community awareness of relevant healthcare issues through a variety of outreach functions,” said Dr. Levine.
In addition to Dr. Levine, other Space Coast Cancer Foundation board members include Tina Norman – President, Linda Bradley – Immediate Past President, Nancy Payne – Treasurer, Dawn Faust – Secretary, Dr. Richard Sprawls, Dr. Ashish Dalal, Eddie Norman, Grace Vista, Linda Miedema, PhD, and Keith Shook.
