BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Three soccer players are Eastern Florida State College Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct. 20. 

Sophomore women’s soccer forward Jenci Villaverde and sophomore goalkeeper Katelyn Kern share honors as Female Student-Athletes of the Week. Sophomore men’s soccer forward Johnathan Quintero is the Male Student-Athlete of the Week.

Villaverde from Palm Bay, FL, and Bayside High School, scored all three goals in Eastern Florida’s regular-season ending 3-2 victory at Broward College on Friday to finish as the team leader in goals with 12.

Kern from Deltona, FL, and West Orange High, finished the regular season tied for third nationally in goals allowed with three and sixth nationally in goals against average at 0.45.

She played 594 minutes in 10 games, five of which she started. Quintero from Port St. Lucie, FL, and Treasure Coast High, scored five goals in Wednesday’s 13- 0 victory over the Webber International junior varsity giving him six for the season.

Eastern Florida’s women (10-2-1) and men (9-1-1) have both qualified for the NJCAA Division I postseason.

The men have one regular season game remaining, 1 p.m. Sunday on the Melbourne Campus against Middle Georgia.
