Chipola Snaps Titan 9-Game Winning Streak

Eastern Florida State College’s men’s basketball team allowed 58 second-half points in losing 99-93 to Chipola College on Saturday’s opening day of the Florida College Shootout at Santa Fe College in Gainesville.
Nationally fifth-ranked and state No. 1-ranked Chipola improved to 11-1 with the victory. Eastern Florida, ranked sixth in the state dropped to 10-2 and saw a nine-game winning streak end.
In a game that saw Eastern Florida exceed 80 points for the 10th time this season, the Titans could not make a 48-41 halftime lead stand up.
McREYNOLDS LEADS TITANS WITH 21 POINTS
Freshman Demetrius McReynolds led the Titans with 21 points. Sophomore Shaheed Davis added 16 and classmates Ben Patrick, Jure Gunjina and Torrance Rowe contributed 14, 11 and 10 points respectively.
Patrick added seven assists. The Titans were 21-for-28 from the free throw line. Chipola was 16-for-26. The Titans were 8-for-21 from the three-point line while Chipola was 13-for-27. Chipola had five players in double figures led by Sam Cassell Jr. with 25 points.
Eastern Florida plays host Santa Fe State (10-3) at 7 p.m. tonight to wrap up its pre-Christmas schedule.
