BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA — The Cocoa Police Department and Cocoa Walmart partnered to provide a special day of shopping for local students from Endeavour Elementary, Cambridge Elementary and Cocoa High School.

The annual “Shop With a Cop” event provided a $100 shopping spree to 16 local students. It was funded through a community grant from Walmart.

“We have our local schools select children..and the kids are told a couple of days beforehand so they can come up with a list,” Cocoa Police Department Public Information Officer Barbara Matthews said.  “Most of the kids shop for other families and then at the end will grab something for themselves. This is a great program and we want to thank Wal-Mart. Their employees are so gracious and generous to us and we appreciate it.”
