Florida Tech Soccer Receives Academic Award

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The 2012-13 edition of the Florida Tech Panthers were recently recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for their academic performance.

The 2012-13 squad was one of nine Sunshine State Conference teams to receive an NSCAA Team Academic Award. The award is given out to teams that post a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

The Panthers posted a team GPA of 3.22 during the 2012-13 academic year. Florida Southern led the 593 women’s teams to receive the award with a team GPA of 3.41.

“It is not easy balancing academics with athletics,” said head coach Fidgi Haig.

“I am very proud of the girls for their performance on the field and in the classroom; it is what Florida Tech is all about.”

The NSCAA hands out their Academic Awards the year after the season, so the 2013-14 awards will be handed out next November.
