Lassman, Vega Selected Panther Student-Athletes of the Week

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech volleyball player Angie Lassman and football player Bobby Vega were named Panther Student-Athletes of the Week.

Lassman, a graduate student from Fraser, Mich., ended her FIT career averaging 24 digs in two matches last week. Against Saint Leo last Friday, she had 18 digs with two assists. On Saturday, she registered 30 digs with six assists and one kill. The meteorology major concluded her Panther career second in program history in career digs at 1,606.

Vega, a senior from Miami, Fla., steered FIT to a 32-20 win in the first-ever Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II Futures Bowl. He completed 27-of-40 passes for 295 yards and four touchdowns. His four touchdowns were the most a Panther quarterback has thrown in a game this season.

He finished his one year as a Panther with 2,152 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, an efficiency rating of 121.1 percent and a completion percentage of 62.7 percent. Last Wednesday, he was named All-GSC Second Team.

Lassman and the volleyball team finished the 2013 season at 15-15 overall. Vega and the first-year Panthers ended their campaign with a 5-7 mark, a 3-0 record against first-year programs and a 4-2 mark at Palm Bay High School’s Pirate Stadium
