Melbourne Police Identify Man Shot On Mathers Street

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – According to Melbourne Police Department Sgt. Sheridan Shelley, the individual, who was shot and killed in Melbourne during the early morning hours Sunday, has been identified as 28-year old Jermaine Williams.

At this point of the investigation, it is believed Williams was in the process of committing an occupied burglary to a residence.
There were three residents in the home at the time, one of whom was a juvenile. An adult resident of the home awoke and confronted Williams in the kitchen of the residence. During the confrontation, the tenant shot Williams who later died at a local hospital.
This case is still under investigation. No criminal charges have been filed.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — The Melbourne Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting that occurred shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday morning on Mathers Street in Melbourne, Florida.
Officers responded to a call regarding a gunshot victim. Upon their arrival, first responders attempted lifesaving measures. The man was transported to the Holmes Regional Medical Center emergency room where he died from his wounds.

Police Investigators are speaking with witnesses and anyone who has information pertaining to this incident.
