Surfer Suffers Shark Bite In Shallow Water

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – A surfer was attacked and bitten on the foot by a shark while in shallow water today near the Cocoa Beach Pier, according to Brevard County Ocean officials.

According to officials, the surfer was heading into shore after after a ride when he was attacked. He received treatment for his injury at the scene and was then taken to the hospital.
Brevard County Ocean Rescue closed the beach, but reopened the area under a shark advisory.
The Brevard County Ocean Rescue Division provides for the safe swimming and beach protection to all Brevard County residents, visitors and tourists in designated areas of unincorporated Brevard County.
