Meeting set for Thursday at the White House

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Mayor William Capote will meet with the president and key members of his cabinet this week for a policy discussion on key issues facing Palm Bay and many of America’s cities.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, January 23 from 3-7:30 p.m. at the White House.

Mayor Capote is joining mayors from around the country for the meeting and special reception as part of the 82nd Winter Meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors taking place this week in Washington, D.C.

Over 280 of the nation’s mayors will meet to exchange ideas and experiences about economic recovery, clean energy advancement and innovation in public service delivery.

“Palm Bay is fortunate to represent Florida’s Space Coast and will share our story of building a strong foundation for a path to recovery from challenging economic times,” said Mayor Capote.

As part of the White House meeting Mayor Capote will be taking part in a focused policy discussion involving strengthening education and workforce development.

Other policy discussions will include healthcare, climate change, technology and innovation and boosting trade and American exports.

Mayor Capote will be in the nation’s capital starting Tuesday.
