ABOVE VIDEO: The Rocketman Florida Triathlon is the only privately coordinated sporting event ever held on the Kennedy Space Center and has been permitted and approved by NASA, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the National Park Service and the City of Titusville.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – After months of negotiations and planning, the 2014 Rocketman Florida Triathlon is a go for launch on Sunday, Oct. 12.

“The 2014 event follows up to the successful and highly acclaimed Inaugural race that was held in May 2013,” said a press statement.

“That event was a finalist in several categories of the Triathlon Business International’s Worldwide Triathlete’s Choice awards; including Best Race, Bucket List race and Most Scenic race course.”

The total field of the race is limited to 1,000 athletes, and registration opens on Saturday, March 1 at 8 a.m.
