Car Crashes Into Merritt Island Hallmark Store

Driver Ticketed for Careless Driving
MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA — Joanne Youngblood, 80 of Rockledge was ticketed for careless driving after she drove her car through the front of a Hallmark store near Publix on SR 520.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, Youngblood was pulling her Hyundai sedan into the parking lot. Evelyn Lassiter 66 of Cocoa had just parked her Chevy sedan in the same parking lot, when Youngblood attempted to park in a parking space, Youngblood hit the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal, struck Lassiter’s vehicle, then continued to strike the front of the Hallmark store.
No injuries were reported but Youngblood was ticketed for careless driving and will be recommended for re-exam.
