Police Hall of Fame, BCSO to host memorial event

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – On Friday May 16, the Police Hall of Fame in Titusville, along with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and many of the police departments throughout the county, will host a memorial service for slain officers at the Police Hall of Fame.

The list of names to be read by Sheriff Wayne Ivey will include all of the officers killed in the line of duty throughout the county dating back to the early 1900’s.

Another list that contains the names of officers from around the country will be read as well. Over 350 police family survivors from 23 states are expected to attend the service which is expected to draw over 1,500 visitors.

A well recognized 22 person guard unit from the Atlanta Police Department in Georgia will be performing the honor guard duties along with a special horse & caisson escorted and protected by 20 mounted police officers on horseback from Brevard County. A talented pipe & drum band will also perform.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend this military style service which begins at 7:30 p.m. and concludes at 9 p.m. with a helicopter flyover.
