Pedestrian Killed on Clearlake Rd in Cocoa

FHP-TRAFFIC-FATALITY-180COCOA, FLORIDA —  A Cocoa woman was killed by a motorist on Clearlake  Rd. at approximately 10:05 p.m., Thursday.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, Nestor Hugo Romero was traveling northbound in his Toyota Sienna on Clearlake Rd, approaching the intersection of Tate Street when he struck Susan Jasinski and Donald Schmoyer, who were crossing the road in a non-illuminated area and not in a marked crosswalk.

Jasinski and Schmoyer walked out into the direct path of Romero, and Jasinski was airlifted to Holmes Regional Hospital in Melbourne. Schmoyer suffered minor injuries and Jasinski died at the hospital. This crash remains under investigation.

Jasinski’s death comes four months after a pedestrian was killed near only a few blocks away from the same intersection on Clearlake Rd
