Chad Binette, spokesman for UCF, told the Orlando Business Journal,

“If the committee supports moving forward, UCF will ask developers to submit proposals to build a hotel on 11 acres fronting Alafaya Trail between University and Centaurus boulevards. An invitation for developers to submit proposals would be forthcoming later this spring.”

According to the Orlando Business Journal, boutique hotels typically lean toward upscale, like a DoubleTree by Hilton. Those hotels typically cost $172,000 per room to build, which means the project may mean a $25.8 million construction opportunity for local builders and might employ 105 permanent jobs.
