BCFR’s Conroy Takes Gold At Florida Firefighter Games

Brevard County Fire Rescue firefighters brought home Gold and Silver medals from the Florida Firefighter Games in South Florida.

The games, which began April 25, is an Olympic-style competition dedicated exclusively for firefighters. The event, which runs through May 10, is one of the largest sporting events in the United States solely dedicated to firefighters.

Firefighter Paramedic Larissa Conroy won Gold for BCFR in the competition’s first-ever CrossFit division, and the Brevard Fire Soccer Team won Silver.

Conroy completed three workouts on a running clock.

• Workout 1: 12 minutes to establish a 1 rep-max clean of 215 pounds.
• Workout 2: 15 minutes, as many reps as possible. Conroy did 15 pull-ups, 50 double-unders, 50 wall-balls (14 pounds) and she did 347 total reps.
Workout 3: 3-minutes, as many reps as possible, Burpee box jumps, performing 17 reps. The workout lasted 31 minutes total.

The Florida Firefighter Games will attract over 1,500 firefighters from across the state and feature at least 30 different sports including soccer, flag football, softball, golf, basketball, volleyball, ice hockey, fishing, racquetball, cycling and more.

Team members included Coach Bill Ryan, Todd Olsen, Cody Gilletti, Richie Stein, Mikey Taylor, Sean Ryan, Mike Cogswell, Ryan Salter, Cameron Burris, Erick Franke, Brian Herndon, Chris Singer (all of BCFR), Justin Hargreaves of Melbourne Fire and Camden Drake and Diego Valencia, both of Palm Bay Fire.
