VENICE, FLORIDA — A group of fishermen in Venice, Florida delivered baby hammerhead sharks in the shallow surf next to the Venice Pier.
Fisherman Noe Campos told the Fox News Affiliate in Venice that he and his buddies caught the hammerhead last Saturday, and they noticed the babies as they were attempting to unhook the hammerhead. Once they got her on land, they realized she was pregnant. She had also been bitten by another shark.
“Pretty life changing – really pretty much made me think different,” fisherman Andrew Weedman told Fox News 13.
Campos said that the mother shark died in the outcome, but the group was grateful to save the next generation of sharks.
