Brevard County Sheriff’s Depties Capture David Baker of Mims, Charged With Assault With a Firearm On a Law Enforcement Officer
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office arrested 20-year-old David Quentell Baker of Mims at about 6 a.m. Friday morning for Assault with a Firearm on a Law Enforcement Officer, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Resisting Arrest without Violence and Violation of Probation.

Thursday night a about 11 p.m., Deputy Andrew Johnson was patrolling the area near Main Street and Harry T. Moore Avenue, in Mims, when he saw Baker commit a traffic infraction while riding a bicycle.
When Deputy Johnson stopped Baker for the violation, Baker pushed the bicycle towards the deputy and fled on foot.
During the foot pursuit, Deputy Johnson observed Baker remove a silver colored handgun from his waistband and point it directly at him, while he continued fleeing.

A perimeter was quickly established utilizing Sheriff’s Office road patrol, Sheriff’s K-9, Aviation and several Titusville Police Officers.
Baker was immediately identified through investigative means and an arrest warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm on a Law Enforcement Officer, Violation of Probation, Resisting Arrest without Violence and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon was issued.

Deputies located and arrested Baker at 2574 Bethune Avenue, Mims and transported him to the Brevard County Jail Complex without incident. He is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail Complex under a no bond status.
