Two Suspects Arrested For Robbery of Elderly Woman

One Suspect Had An Active Felony Warrant
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — Melbourne police arrested a couple suspected of robbing an eldery woman in the parking lot of Publix Supermarket, located at 3200 Lake Washington Road. (MAP ABOVE)

According to Melbourne Police Department Sgt. Steven Sadoff, at approximately 11:35 a.m., the Melbourne Police Department received a call in reference to a robbery in the parking lot of the Publix Supermarket.
According to Sgt. Sadoff, the suspect, Michael C. Ludwig, 44, grabbed the purse of an elderly woman.
The victim held on to the purse, at which time the suspect pulled the victim to the ground and dragged her on the pavement in an attempt to pull the purse from her hands.

A witness to the incident attempted to assist and apprehend the suspect, but the suspect fled into a nearby vehicle driven by his suspected accomplice, Carolyn Stevens, 43, according to police.
The vehicle was quickly located by officers and both suspect were placed under arrest.
Ludwig was charged with robbery with a deadly weapon, battery on a person over 65, possession of a concealed weapon, violation of probation and felony warrant. Stevens was charged with robbery with a deadly weapon and battery on a person over 65.
Subsequent investigation revealed that Ludwig is currently on felony probation and had an active felony warrant out of Brevard County.
The victim received minor injuries and is being treated by hospital staff at this time.
