TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA— The National Federation of Independent Business/Florida, the state’s leading small business association, today announced its full support and endorsement of Rick Scott for re-election as Governor of Florida at a campaign event in Winter Park with small business owners.

bill-herrie-180“Governor Scott has spent the past four years fighting for small businesses, creating jobs, and finding ways to grow Florida’s economy. He has proven that he understands the challenges small business owners face day in and day out, and has dedicated himself to implementing business-friendly policies, getting government out of the way of business, and improving the business climate,”  said Bill Herrle, NFIB/Florida’s executive director. “His hard work, persistence and support have given small businesses a real opportunity to grow and thrive. As a result, our membership overwhelmingly supports Governor Scott in his bid for re-election as Governor of Florida.”

Scott has been a vocal advocate for small business since he took office in 2011, and has delivered many pro-business victories, including lowering unemployment compensation taxes and cutting corporate income taxes for small businesses.

nfib-180During the event, which was held at NFIB/Florida Leadership Council Chairman Jerry Pierce’s business, Restaurant Equipment World, Governor Scott also announced the launch of the Small Business for Scott coalition, which will be chaired by Pierce.

“I’ve seen first-hand Governor Scott’s strong commitment to free enterprise and getting our economy back on track,” Pierce said. “During his time in office, he’s worked tirelessly to improve Florida’s business climate and implement job-creating policies, and I’m proud to lead Florida’s small business owners as we band together to help Governor Scott win.”

There are over 10,000 NFIB small business owners in Florida, and even more small business employees and supporters, making this a significant endorsement.  The endorsement comes from NFIB’s Save America’s Free Enterprise Trust, the association’s political action committee, and is based on positions on key small business issues including healthcare, taxes, and labor and regulatory issues.

Small business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB will encourage Florida’s members to help turn out the small business vote on Scott’s behalf on Election Day.
