The NJCAA is recognizing the following student-athletes for their academic performance: Lindsey Pugh, volleyball, 4.0 Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence; Ben Patrick, men’s basketball, 3.95 Superior Academic Achievement; Sara Watkins, volleyball, 3.85 Superior Academic Achievement; Katlyn Bales, women’s soccer, 3.6 Exemplary Academic Achievement; Brooke Formby, softball, 3.69 Exemplary Academic Achievement; Devin McAllister, women’s soccer, 3.77 Exemplary Academic Achievement; Mariah Robbins, women’s soccer, 3.77 Exemplary Academic Achievement; Bri Seaman, softball, 3.74 Exemplary Academic Achievement; and Kimmie Tierney, women’s soccer, 3.62 Exemplary Academic Achievement.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Nine Eastern Florida State College student-athletes are included on the list of 2013-2014 NJCAA Division I Academic Student-Athlete Awards winners.

“What an accomplishment for these outstanding student-athletes,” EFSC Associate Vice President for Athletics and women’s soccer head coach Jeff Carr said.
“It is a credit to the hard work in the classroom that allows them to excel and achieve these great honors.
“I want to commend them for representing the Titan Nation on and off the field with academic excellence. I look forward to seeing them succeed at the next level in the classroom and on the field.”
The NJCAA hosted 58,446 student-athletes competing on 3,705 teams in 28 different sports during the 2013-14 academic year.
Of those competitors, 3.08 percent – or 1,799 student-athletes – were recognized with academic awards for their achievements in the classroom.
One hundred seventy one student-athletes received the NJCAA Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence, the highest honor possible with a 4.0 grade-point average,.
The NJCAA has more than 525 member schools. Students who have completed three semesters or accumulated 45 total hours were eligible for recognition.
The award categories are NJCAA Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence (4.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale); NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement (3.80 – 3.99 on a 4.00 scale); NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement (3.60 – 3.79 on a 4.00 scale).
