BCSO Confirms Body of Missing Swimmer Found

MELBOURNE BEACH, FLORIDA — According to Brevard County Sheriff’s Office public information officer Maria Fernez, the body of a missing person was found Sunday night off the coast of Melbourne Beach.

Fernez confirms that at approximately 10:10 p.m. Sunday, the body was discovered just north of Coconut Point Park, 3535 S. Highway A1A, where the person was originally reported missing at around 6:30 p.m.

The U.S. Coast Guard, Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and Brevard County Fire Rescue were involved in the search and rescue attempt.

The person’s name has not been released pending next of kin notification.
