Brevard Achievement Center Teams With American Maintenance At Port Canaveral
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard Achievement Center, a nonprofit organization that provides innovative services and programs to assist people with disabilities achieve personal success, has been hired as the subcontractor for American Maintenance, the prime custodial contractor for Port Canaveral and its tenants.
The Brevard Achievement Center was honored as a 2013 Central Florida Humanitarian organization.
The Brevard Achievement Center will provide custodial services for approximately 58,000 square feet of employee offices and facilities at the Port for American Maintenance. A total of five people, four of which have disabilities, will be employed on the contract which will generate $109,000 annually for the Center.
Founded in 1975, American Maintenance has been providing janitorial and related services for nearly 40 years. As a privately held and operated company with more than 1,500 employees, the company provides facilities maintenance solutions to more than 200 clients and manages more than 50 million square feet of managed space nationwide.
For the past 23 years, Brevard Achievement Center associates have acquired various service skills working at federal employment sites throughout Florida and in Puerto Rico that are applicable to a commercial environment.

In addition, through its partnerships with the AbilityOne Program and RESPECT of Florida, Brevard Achievement Center offers employment opportunities via federal and state employment contracts in north and central Florida, as well as Puerto Rico. BAC is a nationally accredited agency which holds the highest accreditation offered by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF International) and is a United Way partner.

To ensure that all services offered maintain the highest in industry standards, Brevard Achievement Center has obtained the following certifications: custodial services – LEEDS, ISSA-CIMS and CLLM (Certified Laundry and Linen Management); food operations – ServSafe; building services – Facility Management Professional; and grounds operations – Sports Turfgrass Maintenance.
This year the Center also joined the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast at the Patron Level to build a stronger partnership with local businesses, as well as market its services to the commercial sector.
American Maintenance has had a working partnership with New York State Industries for the Disabled, Inc. (NYSID) since 2006 and currently employs more than 150 workers with disabilities that service in excess of 6.5 million square feet of space. The partnership with BAC strengthens the company’s commitment to employing persons with disabilities.
