Crist Hopes Obama Joins Him On Campaign Trail

ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA – President Obama has an open invitation to join Charlie Crist on the campaign trail in Florida’s gubernatorial race.

After Crist cast his primary vote an early voting location in St. Petersburg, reporters asked Crist if President Obama would be joining him on the campaign trail. According to the Tampa Bay Times, Crist replied.

I hope so. I hope everybody does.”

In 2009, Crist drew heavy criticsm from his former party after his public embrace of President Obama at an event where Obama announced his stimulus plan. Crist ultimately withdrew from the Republican primary race vs. Marco Rubio and lost his Senate bid as in independent.  Crist faces Florida Senate Minority Leader Nan Rich in the 2014 Democratic Primary for Florida Governor.
