EFSC Earns National Pre-Season Soccer Rankings

women's soccer seeks National Championship Tournament
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Eastern Florida’s men’s and women’s soccer teams are ranked in the top 10 respectively in two national pre-season polls.
Eastern Florida’s men, who reached the NJCAA Men’s Division I National Championship Tournament and finished 14-1-3 in their inaugural season, are ranked fifth by both the NJCAA and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
Eastern Florida’s women’s team, which reached the NJCAA Women’s Division I National Championship Tournament for the second straight time in 2013 and finished 12-3-1, was ranked sixth by the NJCAA and eighth by the NSCAA.
Iowa Western Community College, which captured both the men’s and women’s national championships in 2013, tops the men’s and women’s pre-season polls.
“We appreciate the recognition,” said Eastern Florida men’s head coach Oliver Twelvetrees.
“Now we have to prove we are worthy of it.”
Said Eastern Florida women’s head coach Jeff Carr: “It’s always nice when your peers see you as a top program in the country but to be honest we have a lot of work to do to compete with those top programs.”
The men’s NJCAA Division I national tournament will be held Nov. 17-22 at Yavapai College in Arizona while Eastern Florida will again host the NJCAA Women’s Division I National Tournament the same week on the Melbourne Campus.
EFSC will continue to host through 2016.
