“This year’s Battle of the Brides Triathlon will once again attract some of the best athletes in the region and some of our community’s most important charities will benefit from the event,” said Event Director Christine Lighthill of Viera Sports Medicine.

EARLY REGISTRATION RECOMMENDED

Event organizers recommend early registration as space is limited. Over the past three years registration has closed at least a week before the race and this year it is expected to close earlier. More than 600 people competed in the 2013 event and it is sure to sell out again this year.

“We are so pleased with the support from our community,” said Lighthill, who is also the CEO of Cape Coast Multi Sport, which is the organization that owns and operates the triathlon.

“From Squid Lips, to the City of Melbourne, to the County and Libraries, the community has been so helpful and generous. We are so grateful. Our sponsors are incredible and we could not do this without them. We work real hard to encourage a Shop Local-Buy Local philosophy.”

PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT CANCER CARE CENTERS FOUNDATION

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Cancer Care Centers Foundation of Brevard. Founded in 1993 by Dr. Silas Charles, the Cancer Care Centers Foundation was established to assist the many people within the community who have been touched by cancer.

As a non-profit organization that strives to provide comprehensive patient/family support services, community outreach and education, Cancer Care Centers Foundation was recognized as the Organization of the Year by Brevard for its efforts in assisting cancer patients and the community in coping with cancer.

Proceeds from the event will also benefit Artworks.

“It takes a great amount of volunteer support to run an event of this size, so anyone who would like to volunteer, please contact our office,” said Lighthill.
