BCSO Investigating Woman’s Death

COCOA, FLORIDA — The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an 80-year old woman who was discovered near railroad tracks.
According to BCSO public information officer David Jacobs, at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday by the woman’s family members contacted the sheriff’s office to report a missing person and express their concerned due to the fact she was endangered due to early stages of dementia.
Nearly simultaneously, FEC Railway workers called to report the location of a female’s body, which was in the area of the missing woman’s residence near Broadway Boulevard, south of Port St. John.
The victim has been positively identified as the missing woman with an autopsy scheduled for early this week. The investigation is ongoing, but there are no signs of foul play and the victim was not struck by a train.
The victim’s identity is not being released at this time.
