BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The 8th Annual Daffodil Gala, held Saturday night at Heritage Isles, was a roaring success as the more than 300 guests enjoyed an elegant evening, while raising important funds for the Space Coast Cancer Foundation.
Space Coast Cancer Foundation was established in May 2006 with the mission of assisting cancer patients and their caregivers in our community with the financial and emotional demands associated with a diagnosis of cancer.

“Everyone is somehow touched by cancer and this was an evening to do something good for cancer patients and have fun at the same time,” said Dr. Richard Levine.
“It is so gratifying to help local cancer patients with real needs and to alleviate some of the pressure that they are experiencing.”
The event featured a convenient and fun silent auction, where the guests could make their bids via their smart phones, a delicious meal of steak and roasted chicken and a high entertaining eclectic performance of dance and cirque by CircX from Miami.

“We are so grateful to our Board of Directors, our generous sponsors and to our community for supporting our Evening of Hope fundraiser for the Space Coast Cancer Foundation,” said Dawn Faust, Marketing and Communications Specialist with the Space Coast Cancer and a driving force behind the foundation’s efforts to help people in need.
“The Foundation does great work for people in need and this event is a big part of making that possible.”
There was a silent auction towards the end of the evening, where the always generous Palandiyandi family bid on and purchased a trip to Paris and a sports trip, raising over $10,000 for the foundation. Dr. David Simonson and his wife purchased a trip to Telluride, Colorado, raising over $5,000 towards the foundations efforts.

“This is a great charity and we are honored to help,” said Dr. Simonson, who is a podiatrist and wound care specialist in Rockledge, Florida.
Space Coast Cancer Foundation provides direct financial assistance to help assist with pain medication and anti-nausea medication, utilities, groceries, rent and mortgages. Space Coast Cancer Foundation also supports local oncology education and grants for oncology nursing education to Brevard County nurses.
Throughout the year, Space Coast Cancer Foundation underwrites several cancer support groups, educational seminars and screening events. SSCCF also provides transportation assistance to local, actively treated cancer patients.
