Shark expert Michael Brown told upstartmagazine.com that he believed the attack was a result of recent stormy weather and an increased number of bait fish in the area. There have been number of shark attacks recorded off Australian beaches over the past years. Last April, a woman was also mauled by a shark as she swam off Tathra beach in New South Wales. The woman died.
