Killed Off the Coast of Byron Bay, A Popular Tourist Destination In Australia
ABOVE VIDEO: A great white shark attacked and killed a man on Tuesday off the coast of Byron Bay, a popular tourist destination in New South Wales in Australia. According to police, the victim was bitten on his right leg and an onlooker jumped into the ocean to pull him out of the water. A rescuer performed CPR 20 to 30 minutes on the 55-year-old victim but could not save him.
Shark expert Michael Brown told upstartmagazine.com that he believed the attack was a result of recent stormy weather and an increased number of bait fish in the area. There have been number of shark attacks recorded off Australian beaches over the past years. Last April, a woman was also mauled by a shark as she swam off Tathra beach in New South Wales. The woman died.
